Corey Foister is a stage-IV survivor of neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. Diagnosed with cancer at just seven months old with a fifty percent chance of survival, Corey would spend the next year of his life combating the cancer with multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The chemotherapy treatment caused Corey to lose some of his hearing and he wore hearing aids during grade school. Being a cancer survivor motivated Corey to pursue a career in public service. He credits his health struggles and hearing loss with his ability to empathize with others, overcome adversity, take risks, and his drive to give back to his community.

He graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Northern Kentucky University for a bachelor's degree in Political Science. While at NKU, he served two terms as a Senator for the Student Government Association. Years later, he would go back to college and earn another bachelor's degree in Digital Media from the University of Cincinnati. While attending UC, Corey made the Dean's List all four semesters he was on campus and graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. Currently, he is finishing up his master's degree in Public Administration and Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Northern Kentucky University. He is the 2021 recipient of the W.D. Heisel Memorial Scholarship. Corey is the first person in his family to attend and graduate college.

In late November 2015, Corey pulled a petition to run for U.S. Congress in Ohio's 8th Congressional District. The Eighth is the most conservative congressional district in the state of Ohio and a great case study on how gerrymandering hurts our democracy. Wanting to be a voice for the voiceless and offer a real alternative to the voters, Corey won the 2016 Democratic Party primary on March 15th, receiving 33,165 votes. He campaigned on a progressive platform that highlighted cyber security, racial justice, infrastructure, women's rights, income inequality, climate change, and college affordability. On June 7th, 2016, Corey placed second in the special election, receiving 5,937 votes in a low turnout affair. Corey was blessed to be endorsed by amazing organizations such as the Ohio AFL-CIO, Alliance for Retired Americans, Butler County Progressive PAC, AFSCME, OAPSE Local 4, League of Conservation Voters, and the Ohio Democratic Party. One of Corey's favorite achievements was the "F" grade he received from the NRA.

After running for U.S. Congress, Corey started his own production company, Soaring Jets Productions. With Soaring Jets established, Corey created countless digital content. He hosted three podcasts, with his political podcast being downloaded by people in over seventy different countries. He also created various videos that he placed on YouTube. In February 2020, Corey directed his first short film, Dispatch. One of Corey's proudest achievements of the last few years was losing over 100 lbs and running a marathon. Corey is currently hard at work creating a nonprofit organization that focuses on getting more young Americans involved in politics and engaged in their community. During his down time, Corey likes to collect MLB stadium giveaway bobbleheads and is on a quest to see all thirty ballparks (13/30).

Professionally, Corey is working toward becoming a city administrator. He has worked as a Management Analyst at Colerain Township and has a background in economic development and web design. Corey has only a few likes and passions, but when something catches his interest he is dedicated and passionate. His Mets fandom is proof of that.
